Syn free hummus

I love hummus and it’s a real go to favourite for my veggie Mum and I but it’s so full of oil that I wanted to make a Slimming World friendly, syn free version.  Plus it has to be one of the quickest, easiest things I’ve ever done!
Syn free hummus and pita chips
This is a base recipe, or the plain version.   You can add your favourite flavours to this (caramalised onion, roasted red peppers, chillis) but I wanted to try a garlicky version with black onion seeds (also called Nigella seeds).  It was very good and really close to a ‘normal’ hummus.

If you want to make the syn free pita chips that go with this hummus, the recipe is here

Ingredients
Plain hummous:
400g drained chickpeas
3 tablespoons lemon juice
2-3 minced garlic cloves (I used 3)
Good grind of sea salt
½ teaspoon cumin
2 tablespoons low fat plain yoghurt
2 tablespoons water

Flavours:
1 teaspoon Nigella seeds (black onion)
Or
1 deseeded roasted red onion
Or
Caramalised onion

Method

Drain chickpeas thoroughly

Put everything in a food mixer

Blitz everything for your syn free hummus
Blitz until the chickpeas are smooth and ingredients are evenly mixed

Black onion seed syn free hummus

Serve immediatelywith pita chips or cherry tomato and veggie sticks (carrots, celery etc)
