BBQ Sauce

I like my BBQ sauce smooth so unlike other versions of this recipe I do not use an onion, instead opting for onion powder.  You can use a chopped peeled onion if you prefer.  Also, I thought I’d bought passata and I hadn’t, I’d bought chopped tomatoes (which I hate) so I blended down to smooth with my little blended gadget – you can do this too if you don’t have passata

Ingredients

1 carton (500g) passata (any version/spices you like)
2 tablespoon onion granules
1 tablespoon garlic granules
1-2 tablespoon syn free sweetener (depends how sweet you like it – I use one)
1 tablespoon Worcester sauce
5 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
2 teaspoons medium chilli powder
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
Few drops hot sauce

Method

Put passata into your pan over a medium heat

Add everything else and stir, making sure you’re mixing everything in as there’s a lot going on!  Keep stirring over a low to medium heat for about 10 minutes as the sauce thickens

Serve immediately or when cooled store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two weeks.
