Curly Wurly Brownies

Now I’ll be honest, I make double the batch size most people do and I’m not apologizing for it.  When I started out with 50g flour I looked at the sad little covering at the bottom of the bowl and decided that wasn’t going to make what I would consider a brownie and if it isn’t a proper brownie then I wasn’t interested.  Hence a double sized batch which gives you a decent amount of deepish brownies.

Low syn curly wurly brownies
They come in at 2 syns each but my dodgy cutting (non) skills means some were more like ½ a syn whilst others a good 2 ½ but they were the closest brownies I've had with a low syn recipe.

The Ultimate Syn Free Soup

OK so I’m almost never ill but at a recent dinner I was poisoned, dramatic I know but I was and it was horrible.  I honestly couldn’t face any food that and as I tried to figure out what to eat I remembered the old Italian wedding soup.  This is a recipe I came across in America and I sincerely apologise to anyone that’s had the full fat, full flavour version for what I have done.

Syn free chicken, meatball and orzo soup
This soup is a broth but bulked up with chicken, meatballs and orzo pasta.  It’s good for the soul and cures food poisoning (!) and is an excellent go to for colds and generally any time you feel blah.
I have no idea how many syns the crackers were but if you see them don’t buy them, I would’ve been better off chewing the table mat so I shall count none as I threw them away

The soup however is very worth making, especially if you have leftover chicken, if you have a cold or just need a good soup I highly recommend you give it a try

Syn free Chinese style chow mein

I don’t cook Chinese food often and every time I do I wonder why I leave it so long between meals.  The recipies are almost always syn free, totally packed with flavor and so quick I’ve made it fresh from scratch faster than the local restaurant can deliver.

This wekened was no exception.

I bought some thinly sliced steaks and just didn’t know what to do with them so on a whim went for a really rich Chinese inspired beef and pepper dish with egg noodles that ended up being like a chow mein.

I’d say start to finish this dish took 15 minutes to make and would have comfortably served a family of four so not only was it quick, it was easy and inexpensive too.

Chilli chocolate bites

These are absolutely amazing if you want something chocolatey and not too sweet.  They’re like little cakes in texture, quite rich and have a proper chili hit – well mine do as I add a lot of chilli!  You can of course tone down or even swap for an orange or mint version but not me.

Low syn chocolate chilli bites
At 15 syns for 24 mini cakes they’re perfect for these cooler evening, with a glass of red wine!….well, that’s what our syns are for!
