Syn free hummus and pita chips

After making the apple roses I had bits weight watchers wraps left over.  Anyone that knows me knows I hate waste, so I decided to trial making pita chips, nothing ventured and all that.  Anyway, they turned out surprisingly well – I even tested them on a real crisp lover who gave me a shocked face and said they were ‘almost as good as Kettle chips’ – praise indeed.

I however thought they were a little dry, but I don’t eat crisps which meant I had to make hummus to go with them (like you do)…

I took a plain version of hummus (there are loads online) and added Nigella seeds -which are like a black onion/mustard seed.  It sounds weird but has a really smoky taste, if you haven’t tried it before you will probably like it but get some and add to a tiny dot of the hummus, if you don’t like it you can leave plain or add a roasted pepper or caramalised onion for a more traditional combo.

This is perfect for lunch picnic, BBQ or any time you need to make something quick and portable and will keep a couple of days in the fridge.

Apple Roses

Low syn apple roses use weight watchers wraps instead of he usual high calorie and syn puff pastry. Yes, they are a little fiddly but I have to say they’re really, really worth the effort and sure to impress anyone you have over.  If you save your HEB for them the only syns is in watered down apricot jam and if you syn cooked fruit so literally ½ a syn each (this goes up to 3.5 syns if you count the wrap).

Syn Free Yogurt Bark

This tie-die style yogurt bark is perfect for those days where you need a sweet treat but want something cold, saves reaching for the ice cream!

You can top with whatever you like, fruit, sprinkles or the favourite at my house would be jazzles – which are most certainly not syn free, but the others are....

Syn Free Portobello Mushroom Burger

Technically this isn’t a recipe, it’s a meal suggestion but when I came to make this I realized that I had no idea how to make the ‘bun’.  Clearly I know to get two mushrooms but there’s loads of different suggestions online including leaving or removing the gills so I thought I’d put this down to make it all clear.

Syn free portobello mushroom burger & chips!
I used Slimming World chimichanga burgers, they’re spicy and one of the only things I like in the SW frozen food range, cheese was HEA and the rest was all free!

Dinner took 25 minutes from start to finish to make and felt really decadent.  I love that eating healthy in my home includes burger ad chips!

Syn free Mocktail

Ok, strictly this isn’t food or a recipe but it’s very cool nevertheless.

Syn free mocktails!!
Anyone that know me knows I LOVE my wine and prosecco (hence having to join SW in the first place!) and sometimes I really miss having a glass or three sat in the sunshine.  Don’t get me wrong, I often do but sometimes I try substitute with a more SW friendly (and less boozy) option.  So far this is my favourite as it tastes like a cross between pink gin and prosecco – both in my top three drinks!

Prosecco flavourings are from Sainsburys...
Just mix your sugar free pink lemonade with a good glug of the prosecco flavouring – maybe my taste buds are broken but I mean a good tablespoon at least or I can’t taste it (you can try adding in bits to taste, you can always add more) plus a few drops strawberry essence, fresh raspberries and a load of ice

Et voila.  A perfect mocktail for these hot evenings in the garden.

Omelet Slices - Syn Free

Usually breakfast for me is baked oats, I make them up to two days before and take to work with a variety of fruit but weekends is a chance to do something a little different.  This week I made mini omelet slices that are basically individually portioned frittata

Syn free breakfast omette slices
OK, let me tell you they’re really tasty and so easy!  One of the greatest things is you can make the egg mix and then divide it up adding whatever fillings works with what’s in the fridge or your diet – perfect if you would prefer a vegetarian option or you have picky people to cater for this filling breakfast has you covered

Turkish Delight – 1 syn for 10!

I LOVE Turkish Delight and was missing their chocolate-y goodness the other day so I decided to make a version of my fake Haribos that would do the trick.

Slimming World friendly, low syn Turkish Delights

They’re really good, and 10 is only 1 syn so definitely much better if you’re on plan and will help with the chocolate cravings.  I often make a bowl full to nibble on when it’s movie time
